My partner and I escaped for a long weekend at Port A RV Resort. No kids, no deadlines—just sun, salt, and us.
Arrival & First Night Vibe
We arrived midday, unpacked, cracked open cold drinks, and did nothing for an hour—except listen to the breeze. Later, we walked the resort’s grounds, then strolled toward the Gulf. Moon hung low, waves whispered.
Afternoon: Shells & Sea Glass
We collected shells and sea glass along the beach, then ducked into a small café for fish tacos and local draft beer. We shopped coastal boutiques, picked up a bottle of Texas wine (for us to sip back at the site).
Sundown Cocktail & Grilled Dinner
Back at the RV, we made margaritas (tequila, lime, simple syrup) and toasted to freedom. For dinner: grilled shrimp skewers (shrimp, pineapple, bell pepper, marinade of lime + garlic + olive oil). Grilled over coals, eaten under string lights by the pool.
Walk to the Pier
Later, with margaritas in hand, we walked to the Horace Caldwell Pier. The night was warm. Bioluminescent critters glowed faintly in the surf. We lingered, talked of years past and ones ahead.
Final Morning & Sweet Farewell
We woke early, watched sunrise on the Gulf, shared coffee and silence. As we packed, I traced the resort’s paths with my eyes. This trip reminded me that even in life’s noise, calm is possible—with sea, sand, and someone who listens.
