I booked a week at Port A RV Resort with one mission: to slow down. I brought my camera, my bike, and a heart ready to be still.

Afternoon Ride & Marsh Mysteries

Each day, I hopped on my bike and explored local roads, winding toward marsh edges. Salt air, wild grasses, egrets stalking tiny fish. I stopped often, leaned my bike, waited for the perfect frame.

Charlie’s Pasture trails became my favorite loop. Quiet, shaded, alive with birds. The resort gives access to that preserve.

Lunch Picnic & Reflection

I packed sandwiches (herbed chicken, greens, tomato) and rode to a marsh overlook. I ate slowly, breathing in bright light and wind. I journaled about what I wanted more of: rest, connection, dreams I’d postponed.

Evening Seafood Feast

One evening, I visited a local fish market and bought Gulf redfish. Back at the RV, I made blackened redfish:

  • Ingredients: redfish fillets, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, thyme, salt, pepper, butter.
  • Method: Mix spices, press onto fillets, sear in skillet with butter ~4 min per side. Serve with rice or veggies.

I grilled under a soft twilight, then sat by the catch-and-release pond and listened. Frogs, night birds, distant waves. I felt rooted.

Final Goodbye Ride

On my last afternoon, I took one more bike run, hugged my camera bag to me, stopped at a bench overlooking water. I watched the sun slip low, grasses golden.

Back at the RV pad, I packed slowly, savoring the silence. I left lighter, stretched in new muscles—of patience, presence, wonder.
